A cable that "works" when you plug in a laptop isn't the same as a cable that's certified. Certification runs a Fluke-class analyzer against the full TIA pass/fail spec for the category installed, and hands you a report — not a guess.

This is the verification step behind every job we run, residential or commercial: nothing gets called "done" until it's tested and documented.

What Gets Measured

Six parameters, one pass/fail result

Every run is measured against the category's rated limits — not just "does it link."

  • Wire map — confirms every pin is landed correctly, no shorts, splits, or reversed pairs
  • Length — verified against the 100 m horizontal-run limit
  • Insertion loss (attenuation) — how much signal the run loses end to end
  • NEXT (near-end crosstalk) — interference bleeding between pairs at the near end
  • Return loss — signal reflected back due to impedance mismatches, usually from a sloppy termination
  • Permanent link vs. channel — permanent link tests the fixed cabling from patch panel to jack; channel testing adds the patch cords for the full working connection

A link light doesn't tell you if a run will actually hold 10 Gbps, or if it's marginal and will start dropping packets under load. Certification measures the run against the category's real electrical limits — link lights don't.

Permanent link testing checks the fixed cabling itself — from the patch panel to the wall jack — which is what we install and certify. Channel testing adds your patch cords on both ends and reflects the exact connection your equipment will use.

Yes — a documented pass/fail report per run is available on request, along with a labelled room or rack map so you know exactly what each result corresponds to.
